English Studies Major at EWU

I am a senior at Eastern Washington University, and I will be graduating with a B.A. in English Studies on December 9th, 2022. I am planning on obtaining my master’s degree afterward so that I can become an English teacher or professor. Throughout my time as an English major, I have studied extensively on intercultural and intertextual issues within literature. I hope to incorporate various novels outside of the classic Eurocentric curriculum while still teaching the same literary devices and themes which would be presented within the classic texts. I believe that it is important to give a voice to underrepresented cultures and groups to create a more diverse and inclusive curriculum.
This Site
My website Remixing Literature started as an idea to create a more diverse and inclusive English curriculum. This site is not only a project for my English 401 Advanced Composition: Rhetoric for Life class with Dr. Lynn Briggs, but also as a way to provide various remix sources for teachers and home-school parents to incorporate into their curriculum. Having all the information from multiple sources on one website helps to create a streamlined process for educators to pick and choose which, if any, novels they wish to replace. With an increasingly diverse country, it is important for American educators to stay on top of intercultural relations while keeping in touch with the current trends of the digital age.
